Member FAQ

If I join in the middle of the year do I still need to pay for an entire year of dues?

No, we pro-rate our dues (go to the “Join” page of our site and there is a pro-rated graph for membership). We invoice at the end the year (November or December) for dues. So your dues invoice will be for 12 months.

Why do I want to use the Members Only section?

Many of the benefits of membership are found in the Members Only section including information that is not available to the general public. Member Directory and documents, opportunities to post jobs and promote your products and services, sign up for notifications, member contact information update form, periodic surveys where you can express your opinions, register and pay for events, and more!

How do I obtain my login and password to enter the Chamber’s Members Only section?

Simply email rtreml@sycamorechamber.com or call the office and any one of us can help you at 815-895-3456.

What is the difference in the Sycamore Chamber and Discover Sycamore?

In Short, the Sycamore Chamber connects businesses to other businesses, where Discover Sycamore focuses on the connection between local businesses and the community.
Discover Sycamore is a branch of the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce dedicated to preserving the heart of our community through events, marketing and tourism. We strive to connect local businesses to the community to create a sustainable economic climate, and have fun while doing it! For more information go to www.discoversycamore.com.

why is there a separate membership fee for Discover Sycamore?

Discover Sycamore members enjoy exclusive, specific and focused benefits and opportunities that are not available to other businesses. Discover Sycamore member businesses are included on the Discover Sycamore website, e-newsletter, and numerous promotions surrounding our annual events. Members have the exclusive opportunity to participate in events such as Treasures From the Attic, Farmers Market, Cruise Night, Summer on State, Block Party, Downtown Trick or Treat, Walk With Santa, Chocolate Weekend and more. Members have access to our extensive social network and community contacts. Discover Sycamore works to help each of our member businesses reach their goals within the community. Specific benefits vary based on the type of business, organization or service provider.

Do I need to register for every event I attend?

Yes for most but not in all cases. The exception would be our Business After Hours events do not require reservations. The majority of our events encourage reservations even if there is no fee. On our online Calendar of Events, you will see a “register” button to click.

If I have not registered in advance for an event, may I still come and pay at the door?

Absolutely. We understand that you may be able to attend at the last minute and allow for walk in registrations. Only in rare cases, such as if an event is “sold out”, would we not allow walk in guests.
